Inmarsat's BGAN Link Plan Updates

BGAN Link is a fixed satellite communications solution which offers low-cost, high volume data for those in remote locations requiring satellite connectivity. Ideal for those in fields such as oil and gas, mining, Aid and NGO organisations, the solution enables quick set up of remote office facilities for access to a range of applications including email, web and VPN networks. With the recent success of the BGAN Link plan, Inmarsat have launched new plans enabling BGAN Link to be used not only as primary communications for fixed locations, but also as a back solution to VSAT including Global Xpress when it launches later in 2016.

Please see below for a short summary of the new plans available at Satcom Global:

BGAN Link Back-Up Plan – Inmarsat have released new BGAN Link Back-Up Plans, which offer the ideal back-up solution for fixed site VSAT services and Inmarsat’s own Ka-band Global Xpress. Satcom Global will offer these Back-Up Plans from 1 April 2016, with tiered pricing allowing choice for a multitude of users with different requirements. The service will feature a low monthly subscription charge, with usage charges on top of that, ranging from 20MB to 30GB. This flexible Back-Up plan makes it an ideal failover communications solution without the requirement for users to commit to large data packages each month.

All You Can Eat Data – Another exciting update for the BGAN Link Plan is an extension of the geographic range of the BGAN Link AYCE Geographic Plans, which are now available in Antarctica and Canada, offering increased value for more customers in more locations. Thanks to the great value presented by these AYCE plans, Inmarsat has decided to discontinue the 2GB Plan with the cut off for new activations on 1 June 2016.

Sub-Saharan Africa Plan – The Sub-Saharan Africa BGAN Link Trial Plan was launched on 1st October 2015, and after immense success Inmarsat has announced it has now become a permanent offering, meaning users in this region can now enjoy low-cost, high volume data with increased mobility across neighbouring countries. With this ground-breaking plan, users can freely move the terminal and utilise its services across multiple locations within countries on the prescribed list
