This week Inmarsat has released mandatory and recommended firmware updates for the original IsatPhone Pro and its successor, the Ready, Robust and Reliable IsatPhone 2, and the which amongst other benefits, will support for the new MEAS region and improve reported GPS location accuracy on both handsets.
IsatPhone Pro - Firmware 5.17.2
Inmarsat has launched a new firmware for the IsatPhone Pro which supports the following fixes and enhancements:
- Support for new MEAS region
- Improved reported GPS location accuracy
- Corrected the message content for the V-card delivery
- Improved the practice of the Fixed Number Dial (FND)
- Removed occasional crash events in some occasions
- Other improvements and minor bug fixes
Please note that for users of 5.3.0 or higher this is a recommended upgrade, but for users yet to upgrade to version 5.3.0 or higher, this upgrade to 5.17.2 is considered ‘mandatory’ to avoid the phone becoming non-operational.
IsatPhone 2 - Firmware 02.00.01
Inmarsat has launched a new mandatory firmware upgrade for the IsatPhone 2 which is critical for the functionality of the GSPS service including the network and the IsatPhone 2 handset, and supports the following fixes and enhancements:
- Added options for battery charging to extend battery life
- Added Turkish language support
- Support for new MEAS region
- Improved handling of the leap second event
- Improved reported GPS location accuracy
- Corrected email reply format
- Other improvements and minor bug fixes
