Iridium has announced that the current Australia satellite phone plan is closing to new activations, and will be replaced with a new regional plan. Read on for full details of the changes below:
Australia Plan Closes on 1st June 2017
The current Australia plan closes to new activations on the 1st June 2017. Any customers active on the plan before it closes, can continue to use the plan as normal, until further notice from Iridium.
New Australia Regional Geo Restricted Plan Launches 15th May 2017
To continue to serve the needs of the Oceania region, Iridium has announced the launch of a new Australia satellite phone plan. The new plan continues to provide great value call rates for satellite phones used within Australia, with no change to rates between the closing and new plan.
The main difference between the closing plan and the new regional Australia plan is that calls will only be available in Australia, New Zealand and surrounding waters. Any calls initiated outside the designated region will not be connected. For precise coverage, click here to view the coverage map and LAC's (Local Area Codes).
Customers looking to activate on the new regional Australia plan will need a new regional SIM card. The plan will be available to activate on GlobalNet from 15th May 2017.
___________________________________________
The Iridium Australia rate plan provides exceptional value for users looking for connectivity in remote parts of Australia and New Zealand, where terrestrial coverage is not available. Call rates for use inside Australia are significantly cheaper than regular global rates. The Iridium Australia rate plan is ideal for use with Iridium's popular Iridium Extreme and Iridium 9555 satellite phones.
If you have any questions on the changes to the Iridium Australia plans, or would like to discuss your connectivity needs further, please contact our friendly Oceania team.
